Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) has announced a new recruitment drive for Management Trainee (Electrical) posts through GATE 2026! Published on 2026-05-19 vide Advt. No. MPPR-01/2026-27, this recruitment offers 60 vacancies (plus backlog posts) for eligible Electrical Engineering graduates with valid GATE 2026 score. Candidates aged between 21 to 32 years with a degree in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering and minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) can apply online from 2026-05-26 to 2026-06-25.

No. MPPR-01/2026-27) for recruitment of Management Trainees in the Electrical discipline through GATE-2026. OPTCL is offering 60 Management Trainees in the Electrical discipline through GATE-2026, with applications open from 26 May to 25 June 2026.

Candidates must be a minimum of 21 years and maximum of 32 years as on 2026-05-01. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of Odisha guidelines. The prescribed age limits cannot be relaxed beyond notified provisions. SC, ST, and SEBC relaxation is applicable only for posts reserved for the respective category. PwBD candidates are eligible for cumulative age relaxation over and above category (SC/ST/SEBC) relaxation.

Selection will be based on GATE 2026 score and Personal Interview. No separate written examination is conducted by OPTCL. Final appointment is subject to medical fitness and verification of antecedents.

Stage 1 – GATE 2026 Score-Based Shortlisting

Candidates will be shortlisted category-wise for Personal Interview based on their GATE 2026 normalized marks (out of 100) in the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper. Only GATE 2026 score is valid; scores from prior years will not be accepted. Shortlisted candidates can download their interview call letter through the candidate login on the OPTCL website.

Stage 2 – Personal Interview and Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates will be required to get documents verified through the Digi Locker application as per the procedure intimated in the interview call letter. Candidates must produce valid original Photo ID, GATE 2026 Admit Card, and GATE 2026 Score Card at the time of interview. Government/PSU employees must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) failing which candidature will not be considered.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

Final appointment is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit as per prescribed standards in the Pre-Employment Medical Examination. PwBD candidates must undergo verification by the authorized Medical Board on the date specified; failure to do so will result in forfeiture of candidature.

Weightage of Different Parameters

Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee through online mode only (Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / UPI). Online transaction charges shall be borne by the candidate. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance. OPTCL departmental candidates (regular employees only) are exempted from payment of fee.

A total of 60 vacancies have been announced for the post of Management Trainee (Electrical), distributed across SC, ST, SEBC, and UR categories with horizontal reservation for Women (W). Additionally, backlog posts for Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, and Sports Persons are over and above the 60 advertised posts. Candidates belonging to Ex-SM, PwBD, and Sports Person categories shall be adjusted against the social category to which they belong.

Candidates must apply online only through the OPTCL website (www.optcl.co.in). No other mode of application will be accepted. No hard copy of the application is required to be sent to any address. Before applying, candidates must have their GATE 2026 Registration Number, valid GATE 2026 Score Card, Odia Pass Certificate, degree certificate and mark sheets, and other required documents ready in prescribed format for upload.
