Job Description
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have officially announced the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) Recruitment 2026 with 11,127 openings. The detailed notification was published on 14 May 2026. Candidates who meet the age criteria of 18 to 30 years and hold Matriculation + ITI or Diploma/Degree in Engineering can now submit their online applications from 15 May 2026 to 14 June 2026. Age Limit (Detail)
Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age as on 01-07-2026. Age relaxation is available for various categories as detailed below. Selection Process
The selection process for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 consists of five successive stages - First Stage CBT (CBT-1), Second Stage CBT (CBT-2), Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME). CBT-1 is a screening exam only and its marks are not counted in the final panel. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of combined marks from Part-A of CBT-2 (50% weightage) and CBAT scores (50% weightage). Negative marking of 1/3rd mark per wrong answer applies in both CBT-1 and CBT-2. There is no negative marking in CBAT.

Stage 4 & 5 - Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination (ME)
Final merit list is prepared RRB-wise from candidates qualifying in CBAT, with 50% weightage to Part-A of CBT-2 marks and 50% weightage to CBAT scores. Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are shortlisted for DV and Medical Examination. In case of a tie, the older candidate is preferred; if age is also equal, alphabetical order of given name (A to Z) is applied.

How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online only through the official websites of participating RRBs (listed at Para 13.7 of the CEN). Hard copy / offline applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. The online portal is active from 15-05-2026 to 14-06-2026 (23:59 Hrs.). Candidates must first create an account on the RRB portal. Those who created an account for CENs notified in 2024/2025 should use the same credentials. Details filled in the "Create an Account" form (including mobile number, email ID) and the chosen RRB cannot be modified at any stage after account creation. Candidates can apply to only one RRB and submit only one application - multiple applications to the same or different RRBs will result in rejection of all applications and debarment from future RRB/RRC exams. Aadhaar or DigiLocker authentication is strongly advised during account creation for a smoother recruitment process. A live photograph is captured during the online application; pre-existing photographs are not accepted. No documents need to be uploaded at application stage (except signature and SC/ST certificate for free travel pass, if applicable).

- Educational qualifications (Matriculation onwards) - marksheets and certificates
- ITI / Diploma / Degree certificate in prescribed trade / discipline
- SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS / Ex-Servicemen certificate (if applicable), in prescribed format and issued by competent authority
- Self Screening Medical Declaration Report (Annexure VIII A & VIII B) - to be submitted on CBAT day
- NOC from present employer (if applicable, for Government servants)
